Is Everybody out of Town

I have been getting a 50 - 60% response rate to my email query for the last six months (often within the same day).
This month I sent out seven email queries so far with not so much as a single response.
Yes, this is the same query I've been using all year.
Is this the law of averages catching up with me or is everybody out of town for the month of August?

Late summer is probably the slowest time in the industry (aside from the Christmas holidays). It should pick up again after Labor day.

August is a big vacation month in publishing and medicine from my experience. Agents and doctors just vanish around July 31 and then reappear without fanfare abour Labor Day. It's like of like birds migrating or something--a beautiful element of nature.
