strong or strongly?

Should that be "strong"?

Sounds better to me as strong, but it seems like strong needs the ly to be an adverb.

"Strongly" if you mean he had FELT it strongly enough to raise hairs. "Strong" if you mean it WAS strong enough.

Sounds like it should be "strong" since you're describing the air, and not how he felt.

Thanks, Maestrowork. Might work either way as written, I guess. I originally meant it to modify the energy, but I got turned around thinking it had to modify his feeling the energy.

Those important first lines of a novel, and I'm obsessing. Hate it when that happens. Time for a rest.
