Of course, sometimes what they say is nonsense.

My actual socks do not self-spawn. In fact, they seem to slowly disappear into non-existence. Perhaps they unravel due to the despair of being worn on feet.

I had a pair of nice purple socks, made of of lovely, soft bamboo-based fabric. Now I only have one of these socks. It lingers, sad, lonely, missing it's mate. Maybe one day the grief will mean it disappears too. And then I will buy another pair.

My brother's washing machine broke recently, it wouldn't eject spent water properly, so he took it apart and found that there were three socks jammed together in the drain pipe. Turns out that whoever built it didn't do a very good design job, and socks could slip up over the side of the wash tub and down underneath. When he removed the wash tub there were another four socks in the space underneath.

You'll wait until both of them are gone to buy a new pair? So what are you doing in the meantime? Wearing the one, but rotating which foot it's worn on? Cramming both feet into one sock? Or just not wearing it at all - in which case surely one sock is equally as useless as no socks, and thus now would be an equally good time to buy a replacement pair. In fact, it would be better, since you'd have a spare for when one of the new pair disappears.

I currently keep the best purple sock ever in a box in case the other one turns up. If I get rid of it, the other one will turn up, because that is how these things work.

Those spam comments go right to the spam folder on Blogger, I have it set up also that I must okay the comment before I let it post, to avoid the spam comment from being published in the first place. Yup, I get the Viagra ones too, but they are usually in some other language which I'm sure makes no more sense in that language as it does in English.
