The usefulness of a site depends on the traffic it gets from potential readers. This can be genre specific for some sites.

My hackles are instantly raised by their misuse of "independent author" as the business ordinarily uses the phrase.

It's not independent, it's self-published. They're not the same.

How many readers proactively seek out a site about self-published work? IMHO, not many. On top of that the "book directory" is pretty much impossible to browse and has no helpful search or recommendation engines. Pass.

Looks like a pretty new entrant into the scene. I'd adopt the wait and see approach here.
