What would the acceptable timeframe be to respond to a publisher after the work has been accepted and a contract has been sent to the writer?

I've taken two or three weeks to review contracts and detail which changes I want to make: it can take months to negotiate a contract effectively, but it's not usually a very long process. Sooner is usually better so long as you don't rush through things.
