View Full Version : I feel like I'm being stalked... [Blogger posts missing or deleted]

...or else Google/Blogger has instituted some ominous new policies.
For at least the last three days that I've noticed, every comment I've posted on a Blogger-based blog (several different blogs) has disappeared the next day. And no, it's not blog-owner hate or even censoring me.
I usually use the Name/URL sign-in, along with the captcha, and when I do, my comment will appear on the blog. The next day it's gone. Poof!
I run NoScript, and erase cookies frequently, so I'm starting to wonder if there's some unwritten policy of erasing comments whose originators can't be as readily logged or tracked.
Anyone else have trouble with this?

I just checked a comment I posted yesterday on a Blogger blog, and it is still there, so I suspect there is more to this than a policy in change.

LC is this happening on all blogs, all Blogger based blogs, or just the one?

I haven't noticed any comments missing from non-Blogger blogs, i.e. through Wordpress. But it's been several different book-related (Blogger) ones that I usually comment on. If it was confined to one blog, I'd figure it was a problem with that one, but it's not.
Even a comment I posted last night as Anonymous disappeared--after showing up on that particular blog without any hitch. Now it's gone.

hmm, maybe Blogger thinks your IP address is a Spammer. (It happens. Your connection gets assigned a random IP address by your provider, and maybe sometime recently that IP belonged to a spammer. Thus, you are the one who is now blocked.)

That would be an interesting possibility. I'll have to check with my in-house "tech support" and see what they think.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I'd contact the owner of one of the blogs.
Heck, why not comment on one of my blogger blogs as a test?

Well... As best we can figure out: Google/Blogger has decided that the whole pool of IP addresses that my ISP uses are bad and should be blocked. We've rotated through several different IPs, and the comments just keep falling off almost as soon as they post.
Lisa, I just sent a comment to your blog a minute ago--I'll be interested to see if it stays in the queue long enough for you to approve it--if it does, we'll find out if it has tenure after that. But I kind of doubt it, if the whole IP pool is actually being filtered. Thanks everyone! :)

Weird and interesting. Now I'm going to have to figure out if comment moderation being enabled has anything to do with this. Thanks!

If you want me to turn off moderation, I will. Just let me know.
I assume you've tried logging off, delting cookies, clearing your cache, completely shutting down your browser, logging in, and then commenting?

Repeatedly, but not with attention to all the steps of the process--that is, what's affecting what.
At last update: there appear to be two separate things going on, possibly due to changes with Google/Blogger, as I haven't noticed this before.
1) If NoScript allows gstatic.com to run, then the comments seem to be ok under Name/URL, which I usually use for sheer laziness.
2) Blogger, which used to recognize me through my Gmail account, now insists on signing me up for Blogger as a separate service--sort of odd, when you consider that their new changes are supposed to make all the separate accounts function collectively. So unless I want to be signed up for Blogger/have a blog, I can't just sign in and comment under my Gmail ID.
Anyway--it appears part of the trouble, or most of it, has been with NoScript blocking something Blogger wants to run, so I guess I'll go back to being only somewhat paranoid part of the time. :D
Thanks so much to everyone who's commented!
