I posted a story without realizing the 50 post rule. Now I'm trying to delete it, until I get 50. I see the box that says "I may edit", but don't see how to do this. Or perhaps a moderator will do so. My Path to Womanhood, page 2, nonfiction.
PM the moderator for the appropriate forum and tell them what happened. They can lock the thread until you hit 50 posts. :)

Here are a couple of options:
Click on edit, delete the material, put a period (.) in its place, and save. The post will remain, but without your story.
Ask a mod to move the thread to the SYW section and when you reach 50 posts, ask them to unlock it.
Normally mods don't delete threads. But since the post is your writing, they will if you ask. (Or at least they should. I think that's the rule). PM the mod who locked your thread and make the request.

what button do I push to delete a story. I see the box that says "you may edit" but there's nothing to tell me how?
Rhonda, you already asked this question, and it was answered. (seriously, it's one thread below this one) You have to go to the mod of whatever forum you've posted in. If it's Share Your Work, they'll either lock it for you until you get the 50 posts, or delete it if you prefer.
You CAN'T delete threads yourself; it's not the way the board's set up.

I've messaged both moderators of the nonfiction section to ask them to delete my posting My Path to Womanhood because I don't have the required 50 postings and I posted it on the wrong page. No answer from either one. Where are they please?

...
It's Saturday morning -- the moderators and admin are all volunteers, Rhonda, We don't punch a clock, so the answer to your questions, I strongly suspect, is that the moderators you've messaged are likely having coffee and breakfast with their families. Or perhaps they're working, this weekend.
They're not here this very instant, though, and I'm perplexed as to what you think is so terribly crucial that you'll start three threads about it, yet won't post a link to whatever it is you're asking us to delete?

I've merged these two threads, and I'm about to merge them with the third thread about this.
I've found the story in question, which was already locked, and moved it into Nonfiction SYW.
