:partyguy: Happy New Year!! :partyguy:

So . . . . does anyone still participate in Just Hit Send challenges? I searched for threads and the last one I could find was in June.

Anyone up for it again?

I'm trying my hardest to make 2012 suck much less than 2011 did, and I'm hoping sprinkling in a little JHS will do the trick.

Anyone with me? :hi:

Thanks for starting this. I'm definitely up for doing this again, even though my focus has changed. I'm now doing Kindle ebooks and focusing on online writing, as well as a little magazine work. Can the goals be a little broader than print?

Of course!! The majority of my work is e-pubbing, too. I'm still going to have print goals, but not nearly as many as online. :D

I'm glad you're back on board! Maybe we can gather some of the old crew back into the mix again! That would be so cool. I'm putting together my crazy-OCD-long list like I used to do in the past. tee hee

I went out today and bought notebooks and planning calendars to do some OCD plotting of my own goals, too. At its most basic, here are my January goals:

-Daily blog entries in two blogs
-Every other day blog entries on About.com and at least 8 articles there (two per week)
-Check MediaPiston for work daily
-At least one travel article per day, and up to five, for existing client
-At least two Kindle/Nook books published this month
-At least two Examiner articles per day

That should keep me plenty busy! I hope some of the others jump in too...they've probably just sleeping off the New Years Eve hangovers, LOL.

Yay!!

Yay for picking up new notebooks and planners - and yay for OCD planning!! Love that!!!

So far, all I have on my list is the 12 publications in 12 months challenge I set up for myself on my blog. I did this once in 2010, and I want to do it again. :D

I have my notebooks ready to go, though, and I just need to update my planner - lots floating around in my mind that I need to make into real goals and real plans!

Hey Jenn! I'm in!

ok I'll confess, I'm focusing more on short fiction than freelancing this year, but I could use JHS to keep me honest :) But I also want to start writing for the local horse mag again this year and this mighe give me to motivation to start.

my goals for January 2012:

send one query to NWHS
send out one short story a week

Can I play too?

Haven't done JHS before, but I want to!
For January, I've ID'd 7 potential mags I haven't queried before. I've already hit two.
Goal is to send to remaining 5 by month's end (whew). And hopefully hear back a "yes"!
Lynn

Yay, so good to see another JHS person. Welcome, Lynn!

I was out of town for a few days, but I worked even though it was vacation. I got several articles done for a client and did some About.com work. Also played around with a Kindle book I'm working on, so I think it was a pretty productive vacation.

I've been pounding away at assignments from two different clients, and tonight I'm catching up on assignments from a third. I've gotten to book work at all this week . . . and feel REALLY guilty about that.

This is my first time in JHS. I tried to make 2011 a year of full time writing but life got in the way. I finished the year full time and have a pretty good start to this year.

I need to:
*finish picture book story, create a dummy
*write query for pb and send it to Mary Kole (participated in webinar, she'll critique)
*get my newspaper column and stories written
*find a February feature story for the newspaper
*add 10,000 words to a collection of short stories

Welcome to the group!

It's pretty quiet here compared to the old days - maybe some of the other members will start popping in, too! :D

Popping in for a bit! I've participated in other JHS challenges way back :)

I am hoping to make this THE year that I can earn something substantial. My goals for this month:

* Work on blog content for my tech blog
* Cold/warm call 5 leads a day (weekdays)
* Pitch to 3 different editors every week for newspaper stories
* Finish my outline for my ebook

Welcome, Robin and Red!

I've been plugging away with my eBooks, About.com, travel content, and a magazine assignment. The eBook sales are slowly but surely building, so that's very inspiring. The magazine article is fun because I interviewed Victoria Stilwell.

:welcome: everyone! :D

I've been plugging right along with my queries, as well as keeping up with current client work. I'm nearly finished a book I intend to self-publish and release next month through CreateSpace, as well as on Kindle. :) I've also been pre-occupied with the Shorty Awards ever since receiving my first nomination - which came as a complete surprise! So, I've been trying to get more nominations for that - almost in the top 20!! :hooray: By the end of the month, too, I *will* dust off my manuscript (The Ghost Writer) and work on that some more. (It WILL happen!!!)

Jenn, sounds like you're doing great!

Over here, I released my first romance novella ebook (it's part of a series of stories with Disney and the other Orlando theme parks as a backdrop) and should have another guide book ready to go out today. Then back to my online travel client to get some more content pieces done.

Thanks, Barb! That's great news for you, too!! :D

More client work for me today (and the rest of the week, for that matter), and yesterday I attempted a #10KSunday challenge on Twitter. I didn't finish, but I did make GREAT progress. My novel is in desperate need of work, so this helped jump start the process again. I'm going to try it again this coming Sunday!

I submitted the PB three days before deadline, two and a half days early for me. I had no idea how little I knew about writing a PB.I l learned a lot.

Yay! More goal setters and goal progress reports!

Still plugging away on my Kindle books here. I just need to stop checking my sales figures obsessively, LOL.
