It's barely past mid-month, and I notice that some of you have hit 50k already!

So this is for the show-offs to boast, and the rest of us to envy, at least until we make it across the finish line, or produce 50,000 words of fiction, whichever comes first.

So who's already done their quota?

I got to 50k on the 11th and finished the book on the 12th. It felt great, but now I'm so exhausted. Just thinking about writing makes me want to go to sleep.

Congrats on the completed novel!!

My current goal is to just finish my novel by the end of January, when my work contract expires... :tongue No rush.

I hit 50k on the 7th and slowed down for a while. I'm hoping to finish the novel by the end of the month, but the thing keeps growing.

Not me, but fingers crossed for 50K tomorrow. (It'll be a stretch, if so.)

Not sure on THE END. This is the part I didn't outline very well, so I'm figuring it out as I go.

whooo hoooo! I got my 50k today! I am most excited for earning the 50% scrivener discount. I am going to use that mother for everything! ;)

yay, me!

I finished 50k and my novel on the 21st. I'm super excited and beyond proud of myself. I finished the jist of the novel on the 21st, but had 10k left to write to get to 50k. So I went back and added lots of detail and boosted up my characters a bit. I'm happy with it.

I hit 50k last night. My story isn't finished yet, and I know it needs tons of editing, too. I'm estimating a final word count of 85k-ish. :)

Literally just crawled past 50k. Can I stop writing now? This has been both my slowest and most difficult NaNo ever.

Time to crawl in bed now. (Don't look at me weird because it's 8 am. I work night shift.)

Just validated to turn my progress bar purple and get access to the winner's goodies :D

I just hit 50k!! My story is still going though. Might be a couple more thousand words, maybe about 52k by the time I finish depending how the end goes. Congrats to everyone else!!

I get to come hang out in this thread now. Hello everyone!

My story isn't finished yet, but I'm hoping to get through what I need by the end of the month. For now I'm giving myself a new target of 60k, but it might come in under that. I guess I'll find out :)

First year I actually managed to pull through, and with a few days to spare. Now I've got maybe 10-20 000 words left for the novel to be completed. :)

51k and I'm stopping for the night. My first year doing nano and I'm really glad I won. Still have a bit to go since I'm estimating 75-80k when I'm done, but yay for no more pressure.

Congrats to everyone else who won, and good luck to those who have yet to win!

Sigh. Is it too early to say I'm really going to miss NaNo when it's over? Only a few more days and the madness ends.

Of course, this book won't be done. I'm going to continue my 3k a day goal as I did during this month (my usual is 2k - which will seem like cake when I go back to it.) But I have so much editing to do this next year. I have too many books to edit.

I got to 50k on the 26th this year. I might get to 60k by the end of the month. This counts as taking it relatively easy for me. I got over 100k inside November once, but it left me with mashed potato for a brain, so I swore I'd never try that again.

Hit 50,000 on the 17th, kept going, finished the novel at 80,000 yesterday afternoon. ^_^ (Editing stage commences...now.)

yeah... I have NaNo'd for the last year it seems, but there is something special about November NaNo, I think because of the videos and the 30 covers 30 days thing... and suchlot.

:e2woo::e2woo:

I was honestly worried I might not finish this year since I got of to a slow start (pet double tragedy Nov. 1-3 followed by business travel out of the country Nov. 3-9). But I did it. My 5th consecutive NaNo win.

Congratulations to everyone who's won NaNo 2011!

I won! Well, I met the word count (50 209) and wrote "The End." It's a very, very, incredibly rough draft, but it's finished and I'm happy. My first year, too! Pretty psyched.

12-01-2011, 12:37 AM
Yay, I did it! After writing more than 10,000 words today, I finally can call me a winner with a word count of 50,688. I also wrote 10,000 words the day before yesterday, so I feel singed, but the sensation is not altogether unpleasant.

My draft is far from finished though and I likely am not even halfway through yet, but I am happy the whole thing doesn't quite work out as dark as I thought it would be. Yay me!

Another AW'er did it in under a week. :eek:

I finished yesterday morning, but just now had a chance to post the news here on AW. I finished at 50,125 and I'm very proud of myself. My "novel" is extremely rough around the edges as well as in the middle, but I learned a lot from the process.

Just crossed the nano finish line at 50,004. I still have quite a ways to go with the novel itself, but this was definitely a kick in the pants. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it while going to school full time, but I did. I'm glad I got off to a rocking start from the get go (7,500 words) because there were days I just never got to sit down with my novel, like night before test days.

That's my goal for next year. I got 15 green squares, 11 yellow, and 4 orange. NO red! Go me!

http://www.nanowrimo.org/widget/MyMonth/ruth-cooke.png

And if anyone's curious, I compared the colours with my daily word counts:

Red = 0, of course
Orange = less than 500
Yellow = 500 to 1667
Green = more than 1667

I validated on the 26th, lost about 800 words... (open office counts some weird things as words) Three years three wins, but this years work is only about half done, now to keep chopping away at it.

Congrats all,

...I just realized from a post of Yeshanu's that I forgot to validate my work after hitting 50k. I'd been wondering why I hadn't gotten anything celebratory. :(

I guess that means I can't get access to any of the winner stuff, either. Ah well. I finished, so it's a win for me.

Congratulations, everyone.

This was my first NaNo, and I am proud of myself for winning.

It exhausted me, though. Don't know how people get to 80 or 90,000 words lol.

Still, what an awesome experience. I loved every minute of it, and I am already excited about next year's. :D

Yellow = 500 to 1667

It might be worth trying for the late validation workaround:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/forums/tech-help-site-bug-reports/threads/45838

I don't know what the requirements are, or when the cut off is, but I can't see how it'd hurt to send it in :)

Congrats to everyone who won NaNoWriMo 2011! I finished mine on day 29, so I'm a bit slower than most of you.

Also, if you competed and didn't win, you are to be congratulated on your effort. I didn't win until my second try, so you can do it next year! This was my second win out of 4 tries.
