I haven't completed my novel yet, but for some strange reason I am writing it in english (I live in Mexico, I speak spanish), and it's too late to change it to spanish. Anyway, there's not much market for fantasy (unless it's children fantasy) here, so I was thinking of sending it to be published in the US or any other country.

My question is, how much of a good idea would publishing in another country be? I mean, considering I can't just travel to another country or halfway around the world because I can't miss school and I don't have money of my own for the trip. Is it a good idea?

I don't think it's a big problem. I'm in the same situation myself and what I've found out so far is that most US agents are willing to accept people not resident in the US. Though personally, I aim for the UK market first, me being German. :)

Also, tons of books by UK resident writers get published in the US a few months after they came out in the UK. It can't be a big problem to live elsewhere, then.

I was living in Germany when I sold my first novel (to a UK publisher). I'd advise you to tryt for an agent (in your case, a US agent) first; your agent will lotake care of international sales. Good luck!
