No, I didn't slug'em. That's what you thought.

I have this thing about killing main characters. Hell, there's no point to killing anyone unless they matter. Right?

So, a trusted friend is reading my first novel. She's given fantastic feedback so far, level headed stuff. Sticking points, places not clear. Good stuff.

But when she got to the death of one of my characters, she had a fit. So, I pressed her about why Pad shouldn't die and she had no answer other than she really liked him. She said she knows it's best for the story but she really cared about him. Cared about him!

I think I just rang the big brass bell.

Yessss!! Way to go. Make 'em cry. Make them love the character. Then kill him off. Makes them want to read more. Actually, you must have really turned that character into a three dimensional person to care about. :Clap:
