A deep thank-you, first, to Magdalen, our outgoing, out-of-the-box AW Poet Laureate. She calls to our attention the beauty, the whimsy and the joy, not just in poetry, but in being a poet. It's very, very hard to be tired of poetry when Magdalen's around.

Thank you, dear Magdalen. You have been a brilliant Poet Laureate, and I hope you enjoy the rocking chair life of the Laureate Emerita.

Now, I have the distinct pleasure of announcing our new Poet Laureate - a poet and critic who puts great thought, knowledge, humanity and effort into his own work and ours.

Please, everyone, welcome our fifteenth AW Poet Laureate --

Blarg

Congratulations, Blarg, and thank you for taking on the job. I hope it's as much fun for you as it's bound to be for us.

Magdalen,

Thank you, so much, for a very interesting tenure as PL! I wish I had been more of a participant. Your posts made it a great time to be a lurker when time was sparse. You always raise the bar!

Congratulations, Blarg!

I fear I cannot be brief or terse
When rendering congrats in the form of verse -
Which seems to me to be correctical
In a forum devoted to things poetical.
And so I greet our newest laureate -
I'm sure in the glow of your brilliance we'll all luxuriate.
