Hi all...
Doing the obligatory greeting/intro post.
I've been writing off and on my entire life, but have recently decided to spend a lot more time on it. I find it makes me happy and relieves some of the stress of the day. I found this forum as a link in a friend's blog.
My last literary publication I used to write was for a Equine Club newsletter. I was told I 'write above people's heads', and am 'too wordy'. Well. I can tell you that actually put quite a damper on my enthusiasm since I had considered myself a decent writer. (I can't type worth a damn tho, consider yourselves warned!)
I also used to be very involved in another forum for personality types (a hobby for me), but opted out a few months ago when it changed for the worse and I no longer felt productive there. Since then I have greatly missed that sense of community I had there and have been looking for another way to connect. I have no idea why I didn't think of a writing forum! But it seems to have found me, and so here I am.
I write many different things, tho not a blog. For some reason I simply cannot write a blog. If you find a dead blog out there it si probably mine. I write poetry, short stories, unbelievably horrible fanfic, sappy love stuff, and more recently, what I have never had the courage to write: a first novel in the suspense genre. If I am to be truthful with myself, I have been writing full stories for years.... in my head. I fall asleep working out the twists and turns, the characters, the feelings and motive of it all... now I'd like to try to get it all on paper.
I know writing is a craft, and for many a honed skill. I need a serious amount of honing. I have good ideas, but not necessarily the skill to express them adequately on paper. I hope to be able to learn.
And with that incredibly wordy intro, I have to get back to work!

I so know that feeling :) When we finally have the tech to pull all those stories out of our heads on to paper I'll have my own library.

Welcome from another starting Newbie :)

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.
