Hello, I just regestered on this forum.
I'm a not-yet-published author who likes to read and write middle grade fantasy. My favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, JRR Tolkien, E.Nesbit, and Terry Pratchett.
N.D. Wilson (100 Cupboards trilogy), and Orson Scott Card (Enter's Game series) are authors I've only started reading recently who seem likely to be added to my list of favorite authors.

I'm sure this forum will be a valuable tool for me to learn and critique and get critique, but at the same time I'm concerned it'll be another time-sink. I have terrible issues with time management...

Welcome!

It should be, and it very well may be. Not reassuring, I know. :)

I've been on for a just a few days, and the time-sink issue hasn't been a problem for me (I need constant distractions in order to function).
The site has been great. I've been able to read snippets of work that are not in my genre(s). Very cool to hear new voices.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot.
Hi!

Hahaha so when I saw the title, I thought you were in middle school. I was like "AWWWWWW I wanna go say hi!" <_< Pfff.

Anyway. Welcome!!! *wave* I have yet to find this forum to be a "time sink" but then again I also don't frequent the "chatty" forums. All of the discussions on here are exceedingly helpful, so even if they're time consuming, I feel like I learn so much from participating that it's valuable and worth it. :)

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Hi! I have been here a short time, and have already had problems with the amount of time I am here. I'm trying to visit only once a day, but then there are so many new posts I need to read... sigh.

Hi David, I think I have every single one of Terry Pratchett's books. They are so much fun. See you round.

Welcome! And yes it is a time sink. Very addicting.
Have you read The Book of Beasts, or Uncle James or The Purple Stranger by E. Nesbit? She wrote wonderful stories.

I've read The Book of Beasts, but not those other two. I've read several of Nesbit's, but there's a bunch more I haven't gotten around to yet. I'm planning on reading more of hers at some point.
