Tap, tap. Is this thing on?

Hi Writer Folks!

What a cool thing you've got going on here. I've enjoyed so many of the threads that I decided it was time to dive in. I've been writing songs for 25 years, but I'm new to writing long fiction. In January of this year I decided I wanted to write a novel. I jumped in, was instantly consumed and did not really look up until June when I completed it.

That was the easy part I discovered I'm now entering the third ring of query hell. All the advice and shared experiences here are wonderful and will certainly make the process bearable.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome y'all. Because a couple of you asked, the novel I just finished probably falls somewhere in the chalk between Literary Fiction and Commercial Fiction. I draw heavily on my experience in the music business and I wanted this first effort to be decidedly in the realm of what I know and understand intimately. There are enough things to keep your eye on as a new writer I figure without having to create Narnia or research the Civl War right out of the gate
