Hi everyone.

Ok this might sound like a really stupid question, but i'm not tech savvy, so here we go.

My phone contract is up and i'm looking to get an iphone now. The problem is they ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE!!! I originally wanted to get the 32GB one but thats freaking $300! So now i'm looking at the 16GB one since its much cheeper... the problem is i'm worried the memory isnt big enough. So tell me if i'm just being irrational.

I have an iPod Touch, that is 8GB so it should hold 2000 songs, so far i have exactly 1061 songs. (I love music) and when i plug my iPod into my computer it says that the capacity of it is only 6.78 GB... (Now i understand its never going to be exactly 8GB because of the hardware they put on it) and the songs plus few apps i have take up 4.8GB's

So my question is if i get the iPhone 4 16GB will it be able to hold all my song + more, (my collection is bound to multiply pretty fast) pictures if i take any, text messages, and alot more apps, (because i'm sure i will download alot more if it were my phone) Will it be enough space?

Any help would be very welcome, thanks in advance!

I have 100 apps, 400 songs and 2 movies on my 16 G iPhone.

I don't know if this will help but I have all my songs and many downloaded books on my Touch and I don't worry about them eating my IPhone's memory. I keep the Touch in my right pocket and my phone in my left.

You will certainly have enough space at the moment. Your iPhone will be less than half full.

I reckon the extra songs it would take to fill up the phone will cost you more than the phone.

If you can, I would recommend holding off until fall, when the iPhone 5 should be out.

16 GB should be enough for a lot of people, but it varies widely by use case. How fast do you reasonably expect your music collection to grow? Do you play a lot of games on your iPhone? Games will take up a lot of space very fast, but many other apps are pretty small. What will really eat up space is if you plan to store movies or TV shows on it to watch on the go. Are you planning on only storing the pictures you take, or your whole photo collection? For only the uses you describe, though, without games or movies, then 16 GB should be more than enough.

You should be fine. I had about that number of songs on an 8GB, and I had to take some off because I had about two dozen apps. But if I had 16, it'd be more than enough! Videos take up a lot of space, and I have a couple of those :-p

I'm in Kuwi's corner.

Wait for the iPhone 5. If you decide against it, you'll be able still to scoop up bargains on the previous iPhones.
