I'm still tying to get my feet wet with making money writing (took a year leave from teaching high school for this express purpose), and I've been trying to feel the ropes of this content writing stuff. I know I need to just jump in and see what works for me, but I'm curious if any of you have an opinion as to whether it's best to start writing a bunch of articles and then try to sell them, or whether it's more efficient to first try to get hired and then write based on what the site(s) want/offer.

Thanks!

Write, write, write ... if only to become a better writer. Regardless of what you think you know about your writing, you are going to be surprised by what other people tell you about it.

On the other hand, if you are already perfect, just wait for the requests to come rolling in.

A good way to start in my opinion is to try stuff put on an open-door content site like hubpages
