This forum was recommended to me when I asked around for a good writing forum to check out. And, well, here I am!

My name is Leah, I'm a senior college student, studying Japanese linguistics. I love language and learning new things, so it works out. Japanese, as frustrating as it can be, is always surprising me.

About ten months ago, a moment of inspiration that I couldn't deny hit me. I decided to finally complete a novel, after years of starting and stopping. What I'm working on is an urban fantasy with influences from a creation myth and tales about the occupants of Tartarus.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and hopefully helping you out some.

Welcome.

I took a class in Japanese many years ago. Due to being the NA headquarters for Nissan, Bridgestone/Firestone and a number of other companies, Middle Tennessee has a significant Japanese population. I enjoyed learning the writing system(s) more than the day-to-day use of Japanese. I'm afraid I don't remember much of either.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Hello and welcome to the cooler,

Wow - interesting language to study - must be difficult at times or perhaps not for you as you sound like you have a knack for them. Well done on your novel, it certainly sounds very interesting. Best of luck with it.

Sometimes I think Japanese is a beast in its own category. When your professor has a doctorate in the language and has to pull out his kanji dictionary, it definitely makes you groan. I still love it though!

Thank you all for your welcomes and well-wishes!

Welcome, Ellandrae. What is your novel about?
