If it can be killed - it can be fried...
Hello everyone,

nothing is as easy as it first appears to be - I guess the same goes for introducing myself to the forum. What should I write about myself?

Maybe that I've been here occasionally when looking for something and my google-fu directed me here and I finally decided to register? Or that I don't know yet how much of a writer I am because it is only one of my interests?

Is anyone interested that I am working right now on a journal from a WWII prisoner in Siberia, but most of the time I am too busy to research the events he's writing about? And that sometimes it is just too serious and I do have to take a break, that's when I go play in the mud and do pottery and drink way too much coffee?

I don't know. But I do know that I have been writing for years, both in German and now English, that I am totally incapable of following comma-rules (yes, I do consider them artistic freedom) in both languages and I do put them where I think they look good... Well, I guess that's me.

And yes, I did take courses and no, they did not help a bit...

But as they say, hope springs eternal, so maybe I'll find a comma-doctor here. I guess we'll see.

Welcome from another newbie! I have been writing for several years in English and Spanish, and I know what you mean about commas. I can usually guess where they are "correct" but frankly I don't think it's a big deal as long as the flow of the sentence sounds fine. :)

Your story sounds pretty intense! Good luck with the project!

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Hello, and welcome! I find it very interesting that you are doing a WWII piece. Though I write fiction I have always been fascinated with WWII. I believe you when you say sometimes it is too serious, I could only imagine. Good Luck, you're at the write place!!

First off let me just say that your book sounds very interesting and I love hearing about WWII stuff. It is very intriguing to me.

If you writing is anything like your message then I think it will be very good. You are entertaining and interesting in what you write which are great qualities. I hope all goes well.

As for commas, I know how you feel. My husband has a sister we call the comma natzi as she is all about having the commas in just the right spots. She is very anal about it. For me I just do the best I can.
