Does my character go to psych class, or Psych class? Bio or bio? I'm torn because it's kind of a proper noun, but "biology class" can also be a common noun, I think....

If I recall correctly, I believe you cap language classes, but not others, i.e. English class, psychology class, Spanish class.

It can be a proper or common noun depending on how it is used.

Ex. 1.
"On the way to biology..."

Ex. 2.
"What class are you taking?" he asked.
"Psyc 101." (or Biology I, Physics II, etc.)

But as Dharma pointed out, all language classes should be capitalized regardless.

Passion's nailed it. You cap the proper name of the specific class--Psych 101, Advanced Phrenology in Primates, Numismatic Literature--but not shorthand versions of the class name--off to chem!--and not fields of study--Hi, I'm a psychology major--unless the word is a proper noun, such as a language.

Maryn, pretty sure this is one area where she doesn't screw up
