Have had my blog up about six weeks. It is a personal development blog and the first one I have ever done. I would really appreciate it if you would review it and if you find it worthwhile would love for you to subscribe. Thank you so much.

I checked it out. It looks like a very basic, well thought out design-wise blog with some good articles. Thank you for sharing!

It seemed okay, a bit bland and lacking context about the overall goal of the blog. But the popup really strikes me as a problem, I hate those things!

p.s. you will get more replies if you also give some blog reviews/feedback yourself.

What a great idea! I'll stop in and take a peek at your site, Tujack...

There are singles, doubles and triples in baseball terminology, suffice it to say your website is indicative of a hitter who can produce homeruns. Enjoyed reading your latest post--great analogies by the way. Double thumbs up!

I think the blandness makes me feel like it's one of those fly-by-night sites that pops up just to service a trend like the latest fad diet.

Even industry or magazine sites have some personality and an individualized feel to them, this feel like the template. When I feel like a sit didn't make the effort to go beyond a boxed starter template, I question the validity. But your content is actually good and real.

That is a good point. Even something very simple like a logo or graphic banner can give a blog a bit more of a distinctive presence.

I'll second (or third) this. It (along with the URL), looks like something that was set up by either a spammer or a scraper. (The latter being a site that steals and posts content from other blogs.) I'm not saying you do that, just that the very generic template doesn't inspire confidence.

As Veinglory suggests, you might look into adding graphics and/or creating a distinctive look, a kind of branding.

I appreciate the comments. No this is not a spammer or scraper(?) site. I personally have written every article. I did not design the site, someone else does that and manages the layout for me. I will get back to her with your comments.

I gave it a look. Blogging takes time and courage. Good luck with it. As for the site, it was easy to read and easy to see it's not for those of us who are happy with our imperfections :). My only complaint is this: It is very white. Even a little color in the background would be an improvement. l didn't mind the popup. I love being asked for my opinions and my advice, two things I always have handy.

Thanks writeminded. The purpose of the popup is to get feedback so I can better address topics, ideas, people are interested in. I'm glad that you liked that feature.
And, yes, you are absolutely right :) the idea is to help overcome imperfections and not be satisfied with them.

You lost me at the popup. If you need your readers to tell you what to write, maybe you shouldn't be blogging.

The layout is a stock Wordpress template (something that requires zero creation or management-hope you aren't actually paying someone to do that), and as others have noted, it is very bland. I agree in regards to the need for something custom-get your creation and management person to do something unique, that says something about what your blog is about. I'm a big fan of custom headers, and I change mine on a regular basis.

I clicked on the link under your user name and it gave me this:

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.

The blog has been given a facelift which i think improves the overall appearance. Thank you for your comments and please go back and take another look. Let me know what you think after the changes.
Thanks.

Much better. Still pretty pale, but then, I like color - in just about everything.

I liked the layout and the writing, but have to agree about the pop up. All in all thought it's decent.

Hey, I like your blog. I think we've all been stuck on "empty" at one time or another- that's where I'm at now, trying desperately to reach a certain goal. It's quite frightening when it seems so out of reach because it's very important to reach it!

Thanks for sharing. The site seems easy to manage, etc, though it could use a touch more color. :)

Hi Tujack:
OK - I can appreciate what you are trying to do and I will be the first to admit that your content is not something I would naturally go searching for (self-improvement must not be my thing). I must say that it raises a red flag for me when I read the quote above regarding your desire to expound on whatever your reader might want to hear. My opinion is you should write your passions, your goals, your thoughts. When you say you want people to indicate what they want you to write about, it makes me think you are a guru. Are you a guru?

That said, I would echo what's been noted above: for a blog that is ostensibly about nurturing and self improvement, the presentation is somewhat cold and colorless. I think your articles are well written but somehow...detached. I was expecting content that was more impassioned.
