MSWord Search and Replace

Can anyone tell me is there is a way to change fonts when using the feature.
Example:
Search for: Brother Jonas
Replace with: Fray Jonas

Oooh, problem... the Replace with field allows me to italicize Fray Jonas as a phrase (using Ctrl-I to toggle italics on and off) but doesn't allow me to italicize just Fray and not Jonas in the same field.

...Ah, got it. Type Fray Jonas in your doc, on a blank line. Italicise Fray so it reads Fray Jonas. Highlight both words and copy to clipboard (Ctrl-C).

Open the Find and Replace window (Ctrl-H). Type Brother Jonas into the Find what field, then tab down into the Replace with field. Select the More button, the Special button, then Clipboard contents. (On my screen, ^c is written into the Replace with field.)

Select Replace All and all occurences of Brother Jonas should be replaced with Fray Jonas

I'm using Word 2000 so the options and field text might look slightly different. Remember to delete the Fray Jonas line you typed and copied to the clipboard.

Yes. You can replace a word with another word in italics/bold/underline, or replace it with a word in a specific font. When you are looking at the search and replace dialogue box, first click in the "replace" text entry field, then click on "more" and then click the "replace" button at the bottom of that box, then scroll to "font" and it lets you pick out whatever you want. Hope that is clear enough! You can also search for text that is italic/underline/bold or search for text in a specific font, by clicking in the "search" text entry field :)

The answer is YES, depending on which version of MSWord you're using.


If you're using Word 2007, on the Home tab, click Replace.
In the Find and Replace box, on the Replace tab, type what you want Word to find in the Find box.
In the Replace with box, type what you want to replace it with.
Click the Format button and select Font.
Choose the font (italic) of the word you want to replace the text with.


Voila. Make sense?

Oh Lord! Thanks for all your replies.
But, my MSWord doesn't have anything in the "more" area. the thing drops down and it's blank!!!!!!!

And when I click on the arrows to the right - there's nothing there. And, when I do the drop down on "Special" [which I can't get with my snipping tool] there's nothing even close to fonts.

Ah well, just have to do it the hard way. Find then Ctrl-I, space and back to Find.:Headbang:

Rewind to the steps in post #2 above. Instead of selecting the More button (which doesn't work for you, for whatever reason) could you try typing ^c into the Replace with field? Just to see if that does the biz as regards replacing Brother Jonas with Fray Jonas?
