Digital Science Fiction is accepting submissions for the second installment of its soon to be published anthology of science fiction short stories.

We use Submishmash to manage submissions, but we absolutely do NOT charge any reading, submission, or editing fees of any kind. We pay 5 cents per word (final edit) on accepted short stories.

No, the second collection will not have a theme. We are now looking for science fiction short stories on any theme.

Are submissions open indefinitely or do you have an approximate date they might close on? Also, do you accept submissions from outside of the United States (ie- Canada)?

Hi Ryan. We accept submissions from anywhere, even Canada. We're located in Canada, actually. We do not have a fixed submission close date. We will close submissions when we have either of i. enough submissions to complete book 2 and start book 3, or ii. too many to meet our 3 week author response commitment.

Stupid question, but I'm new to the Steampunk genre and looking for a potential market for my recent short story, so I guess what I'm trying to say is... is Steampunk science fiction? Or would it be classed more as fantasy?

If it is fantasy I have a science fiction short I'm planning out, I'll see how that goes.

Most steampunk is classified as science fiction, unless you twist it by adding magic (like I did in one of my stories).

Darnit. The scifi story I previous wrote and have available for submission is only 3000 words. So much for that.
