Hi everybody, I've lurked around here for a few years but decided to post. My name is Steve I'm originally from the UK but have lived in Florida full-time since 2000.

I served 20 years with Scotland Yard and although I've never considered myself an author I did pen 2 autobiographies back in 1997 which turned out to be UK top-ten bestsellers. Since that time I've never put pen to paper but this forum has revived my interest so I started my first novel last week and so far I'm into 11,000 words or so.

Look forward to speaking with you all.
Be Safe,
Steve

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:

Take a wander around the various forums, there's lots to see and lots to learn, and even some fun threads too. Come along and pop on over to the Newbie Pub (at the top of the Newbie forum) and say hi, there's plenty of friendly faces that you can chat with and lots of banter. There's also the Question of the Day threads at the top of the Newbie forum where you can answer random questions.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, and if you want to know what all the buttons mean check out this thread.

Glad to see you finally introduced yourself, Steve. Welcome! I'm curious, how could you write not one, but two books that are top-ten, and not consider yourself an author? I'm impressed!

Good luck with your new WIP. :)

Welcome to the party, Steve! Try the punch.

Congrats on the 2 top tens! I'm glad you've decided to pick up the pen again.

Welcome, and wow on the bestsellers! Working for Scotland Yard must have been a wealth of inspiration.

Is the new novel a detective/crime novel, or are you trying other things?

Thank you everybody for the warm welcome.
Swachski - Writing the autobiographies were quite easy as they were things that I'd done and didn't have to make up, writing a novel is a completely new experience. I considered myself a career copper until I fell out of a window on a job and messed up my back, authors are people like you on here, people that inspire others and write because they love it, I haven't done anything for 15 years.

Zanzjan - Yes it's crime I know nothing else. An English detective turned PI in the US, lots of twists and turns but predominantly it's about Human Trafficking which is big in Florida.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.
