Any recommendations?
No sci-fi or horror. Dark fantasy is okay.

Thank you all so much! My newest wip dictates that it be written in 3rd, present. I started writing and realized how hard it is. :D So, decided I'd better get to reading.
I have Wake on the way, since it's closest to my tastes. I'll also check out the others.
Keep other recommendations coming, too!
Oh, just to clarify, I need 3rd person, present tense. I see some are in first person. But thanks for the recs anyway.

I immediately thought of this thread yesterday when I flipped open THE WINDUP GIRL, by Paolo Bacigalupi. It's definitely third person, present tense. :)

Patricia Cornwell's latest books in her Scarpetta series have been in 3rd present tense.

Pattern Recognition by William Gibson. It's under the sci-fi umbrella but really, I would say it's more of a psychological thriller with futuristic undertones.

Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson flips into past perfect a lot, but the prologue and many sections are true 3rd-person present tense. Many of them are military/war scenes, so the present tense works well for creating a sense of urgency, as one previous poster on your other thread touched on.

Memoirs of a Geisha. A very interesting book, and suspenseful, and I liked it. (I was also going to say something sarcastic about it but I don't want to spoil the plot.)
