For an Internet-weary technophobe this is very scary territory. I don't know how to make smiley faces and don't understand most of the abbreviations. I like writing though, and that's why I'm crossing the Rubicon.
I've written a few articles for an in-flight magazine of a very dodgy East African airline (after editing my work there were more mistakes than before). I've also written 80000 words of a book about Tanzania, where I lived for a few years and then I abruptly stopped - it was more laziness than writer's block.
My last project was a book about my wife's great-grandfather who left a first draft of his autobiography on the shelves of his homestead after his death. He was a superbly interesting man with a sharp wit, a bright mind and an intense love for booze. He was a devoted alcoholic. I retyped and edited the book and had so much fun scratching around in the fascinating history of South Africa at the turn of the (previous) century. We printed a hundred copies and sold them all. But I'd rather get it published now.
If I don't stop now, I'll write another 80000 words and not finish, so hello and howzit and I look forward to interact with you all.
