Hi, everyone. I'm Maer, aka Dragonstar. I'm new here, but, not new to forums, having been a mod on a couple of others.

I saw AW mentioned on another forum and it looked a bit more like what I was looking for, so - here I am.

As a former professional stage actor, I'm not new to the arts. Also, I've been lucky enough to know and work with several prominent "real" writers. That's why I hesitate to call myself one. Although, I must admit that I'm enjoying my latest reinvention of myself.

The sci fi / fantasy genres have been my main areas of reading for many years. I'm not sure why I thought I could write a book. That's probably still an open question, but I had a story and characters that were demanding to be let out. Besides, it was a blast to write it.

I've played World of Warcraft for over 4 years and definitely spend more time than I should ingame.

I'm also the proud pet parent of two dogs: an 11 yr old long-coat chihuahua and a 3 yr old mini poodle. Oh, and I teach Theatre and Communications part-time at a local college (Acting, Intro to Theatre and Public Speaking).

I'm looking forward to reading more of the wonderful posts I've found here. It's awesome! Thanks to all those who have shared their knowledge.

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Hi there,

MMO's certainly are a timesink (I've been playing WoW since it's beta) but you do get to meet some interesting people :). Funnily enough, since I've thought about writing more, my desire to play has dropped.

I downloaded the WOW trial version. I have never laughed so hard in my life. Not at the game ... at myself for not being able to figure it out.
I guess that's why I write, I suck at games. They look fun ...

Take a wander around the various forums, there's lots to see and lots to learn, and even some fun threads too. Come along and pop on over to the Newbie Pub (at the top of the Newbie forum) and say hi, there's plenty of friendly faces that you can chat with and lots of banter. There's also the Question of the Day threads at the top of the Newbie forum where you can answer random questions.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, and if you want to know what all the buttons mean check out this thread.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind welcome. Yeah, I definitely play WoW too much, but I love it. I actually get a lot of story work done in my head when I play. Unless I'm raiding, of course.

I should feel guilty, but my excuse is that it keeps my brain sharp and gives me something cool to tell students. :)

:) The 1st MMO I played, I couldn't figure out how to move and got myself stuck in a wall. I'd only figured out how to go forward. The friend who got me into trying it was kind enough to explain. I felt like an idiot, but was determined a game wasn't going to beat me.
