I'm updating my first post to keep a list of author (and other useful blogs). Feel free to add any you come across or your own. :)

Also, most of these blogs have an extensive list of links to other blogs. Let me know if you cross any favorites. I'll add them to the list. It's nice to get insight into various writers' lives and experiences.

Author Blogs

Jonathan Carroll (http://www.jonathancarroll.com/blog1/archiveMain.html)
Sara Donati (http://www.tiedtothetracks.com/storytelling/)
Neil Gaiman (http://neilgaiman.com/journal/)
Tess Gerritsen (http://www.tessgerritsen.com/blogs.cfm)
Grumpy Old Bookman (Michael Allen) (http://grumpyoldbookman.blogspot.com/)
J.A. Konrath (http://jakonrath.blogspot.com/)
The Lipstick Chronicles (http://thelipstickchronicles.typepad.com/)
Holly Lisle (http://www.hollylisle.com/writingdiary2/)
Chris Moore (http://www.chrismoore.com/blog.htm)
Paperback Writer (Lynn Viehl) (http://pbackwriter.blogspot.com/)
Sarah Weinman (http://www.sarahweinman.com/)
Jane Yolen (http://www.janeyolen.com/journal.html)

I'm a big fan of reading writers' blogs. I've found that reading different blogs really gives me a chance to get into an author's style. For instance, J.A. Konrath's blog (author of Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary) really kept my interest and made me laugh. I wouldn't normally buy Konrath's genre, or even really be interested in his books, but after reading the blog, I found that I would really like to read Whisky Sour, so I think I'm going to pick up a copy.

On that note, what are some of your favorite blogs by writers? I'm always on the look out for someone new to read...

Here are some of the ones I check regularly:
J.A. Konrath (http://jakonrath.blogspot.com/)
Holly Lisle (http://www.hollylisle.com/writingdiary2/)

I have some author web sites that are also interesting, but not updated regularly, much to my chagrin.

I check Sara Donati's blog several times a week. Some of it is random musings, and other times she'll having something very insightful to say about the business and craft. She did a wonderful series on writing sex scenes that I found very useful.

I read Jane Yolen's journal. Not all of her books are novels; some are short stories and other stuff. She talks a fair amount about writing, dealing with editors as well as the everyday stuff. She works hard and it shows.

www.chrismoore.com

Author of Lamb, The Stupidest Angel (which just won the Quill award in fantasy/sci-fi/horror, beating out Stephen King), Bloodsucking Fiends, etc.

He has a blog, plus message boards with a So You Want To Be A Writer forum. He answers questions and hangs out in the forums, adding his two cents whenever. His blog/forums could be offensive to some. Moderate to heavy cursing, stuff like that. But for those who aren't offended, it is fantastically fun!

By the way, read the rules before posting anything there. And bring pie, lots of pie. Punkin, for Mr. Moore.

Oooo...I love Christopher Moore. Coyote Blue is a favorite of mine. I had no idea he had a website (although I probably should have guessed). Thanks!

The last is a bookseller, not a writer, but he still has all kinds of useful--and well written--things to say.

Inanna- His website is a crack-up!

Emerald- His books are great. Lamb is pretty much a masterpiece, IMO. The research that went into it is amazing. And it is hilarious.

She provides links to many other author blogs. I tend to read JA Konrath's and Jennifer Weiner's as they update regularly.

I'll be the one to state the blatantly obvious and say:

Neil Gaiman (http://neilgaiman.com/journal)

:)

Although Jonathan Carroll (http://www.jonathancarroll.com) also has a wonderful web-site with a practically comprehensible blog.

George R. R. Martin has a blog which has, I believe, two entries. I don't think either one is from this year. I continue to hope. :)

Any agent blogs or editor blogs to be added?

I'll toss out a plug for Making Light (http://nielsenhayden.com/makinglight/), which belongs to Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden (of Tor). Our own Uncle Jim is also a regular poster there.

Making Light is probably the smarest blog anyone can read to get a feel for the publishing industry. Or cooking.

Best selling author Anne Frasier has a fun site called Static ( http://annefrasier.blogspot.com ). She's very down to Earth and accessible.

For authors, I like Jennifer Weiner : www.jenniferweinter.blogspot.com

I have a list of agent blogs I like to read.

There's always Miss Snark - www.misssnark.blogspot.com

Barry Goldblatt : www.livejournal.com/users/bgliterary/

Nadia Cornier (who I pray to the writing gods that she wants to rep me): www.livejournal.com/users/~agentobscura

The one I read all the time is Lee Goldberg (www.leegoldberg.com (http://www.leegoldberg.com/)). Also, Mealnie Lynne Hauser (www.melanielynnehauser.com (http://www.melanielynnehauser.com)). Both are pretty funny, along with being helpful from a writer standpoint.
