Greetings fellow scribes,
After a regrettably long period of lurking on these boards, I have decided to jump in and test the waters.
I have appreciated reading and commiserating with the lot of you over the years.
I am a non-fiction writer of humor, and general raconteur. I live in Vancouver Canada and am working on balancing the following: my "real" job, being an author, parenting, dealing with sick family members and my "artistic career."
My first book was published Sept 2010 and another is in the shoot for Sept 2011 so I am pretty pleased with this, but I need you all to know I HAVE suffered.
I think the rejection forum here carried me through many a dark morning.
Anyway, off to snoop around and post, lovely to "meet" you.
xoxo
Willow

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:

Take a wander around the various forums, there's lots to see and lots to learn, and even some fun threads too. Come along and pop on over to the Newbie Pub (at the top of the Newbie forum) and say hi, there's plenty of friendly faces that you can chat with and lots of banter. There's also the Question of the Day threads at the top of the Newbie forum where you can answer random questions.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, and if you want to know what all the buttons mean check out this thread.

Glad to hear you suffered. Okay that didn't come out right. I should say, Glad you come out the other side. I love to hear those success stories.
Welcome!

Renee

as for the suffering, well said. These forums actually worked as a beacon for me those many months-God, years of endless rejections. That is, when you were LUCKY enough to actually be rejected!
God it's a tough thing to write, and tougher to be an "author," I still struggle owning the word (hmm, good idea for new thread.)
I actually just did my first Writer's workshop and spoke about dealing with rejection and pushing on. Sometimes it's not actually about you or the book. that's comforting.
