Hola! My name's Matt and, in the way of our people, I am posting in the I Am A New User forum!
I'm a video game designer by trade and should forevermore be so. Writing has been a hobby and sometimes profession of mine for about 15 years. I did all the writing and story work and dialog in the last two games I worked on, but I feel this should not be held against me.
I arrived here after some prodding by users at www.rpg.net, where I am a long-time user and poster. I've written a novel, it's a work I'm serious about and I believe has some merit. I put it online as a free PDF, but I'm not here to promote it. I'm not even sure this is the kind of place *to* promote a fantasy novel. Rather, I'm here to learn about ways of promoting it on my own. Though I think perhaps that's a subject for another thread, after I've learned more about the culture here.
I found this forum about a year ago, but didn't join because I'm a forum hobbiest and take communities seriously and didn't want to just alight upon the stage, ask some incredibly self-serving questions, and then evaporate.
After being directed here, I read some threads and concluded this was the kind of place I could contribute to as a user rather than someone just looking for information and so registered, and so posted, and then it was now and I'm writing this sentence! Woo!
