View Full Version : Confession is good for the soul, right?

I just spent the bulk of my Saturday revising and editing and I have to confess something: I killed a lot of my darlings today along with an alarming number of adverbs. Those poor words, resting comfortably on my computer without a care in the world until I decided to mess with them. (Hey, they're still hounding me so I told them I'd use at least one adverb in my post.)

What have you done today that you need to confess to?

I ate Girl Scout cookies for breakfast... and lunch. And I'm going out to dinner with friends in an hour, and will probably eat more crap. And then I'm going to see The King's Speech (finally!) after that, where I will probably eat even more crap.

But it's Saturday. It's okay to eat junk food on Saturday, right?

I did write a new chapter in my WIP. And I loaded the dishwasher, took out the trash, and did a few loads of laundry. So, it hasn't been a totally unproductive day. :D

Ah, the great adverb graveyard in the sky (or, uh, the recycle bin).

I got in minor trouble today. Details not needed.

I once killed a man just to watch him die.

Oh wait. You didn't want that kind of confession...

it was a in a book anyway...

It's not a thing I've done, but a thing I'm wearing.

I am (willingly!) wearing a pair of all-in-one fleece pyjamas. They have feet. And they are cow print.

They even have a little hood with cow horns and big eyes on it.

I might have confessed to killing someone, but I wouldn't have confessed that.

You're a brave person.

I let too many of my darlings live. Some darlings need a damn good killing and I've been negligent.

I confess, I have just had one hell of a nosebleed!

They even have a little pink 'stomach' on them. Though thankfully no udders.

Nothing.

Ditto. I've done nothing today. Except goof off. Been watching River Monsters, playing PS3, and posting here. Which is rare for me. Usually I'm riding horses until I plop dead on a Saturday.

I'm going to resist the temptation to start doing cow puns.

Should have been editing my final draft but was eating chocolate, getting sucked into Twitter, and watching Twilight. (wow typing it all out makes me feel like such a dork)

It's probably for the best.

HA! Smish and I have had almost the same Saturday. I had Girl Scout cookies for breakfast and lunch (+ a cup of coffee), and my dear husband and I are about to go out to a sports bar (where I will undoubtedly eat more crap).

No new chapter today. However, I did write the first draft of a query for this new WIP. I suppose that counts for something. I'm probably much to early in the novel to be worrying about that, but I was hoping it would help me find focus.

The only housework I did was clean leaves out of the pool. WORTHLESS! :tongue

With all this talk of Girl Scout cookies I am now craving Thin Mints. Man I wish I knew a Girl Scout!

It wasn't me. Seriously.
It was Cray, he did it, or maybe the bunny, or Haggis even.
But it wasn't me.
I don't care what the video tape says.
It wasn't me.
They put me up to it,
forced me.
Threatened me with Jed's banana...
or was it SP's package?
I don't remember.
Bartholomew told me it would be funny,
like a joke, haha.
It was the meds.
No. Wait, the lack of them,
yeah that's it, a lack of meds.
It wasn't me at all.

I ate five full-size Bounty bars whilst writing and editing earlier. I am not proud of this fact.

I went grocery shopping with my mom and actually helped fill the cart for the first time today... :) And by the look on her face (and the recipt) it seems I may POSSIBLY have caused her to go at LEAST $50 over what she usually spends... :D

If I'm lucky, I may never have to go grocery shopping again :)

Keebler Fudge Shoppe Grasshopper cookies come pretty darn close to Thin Mints. And you can find those at your local grocery store!

Look at my title. That's as close as you're getting to a confession.

Okay, I'm gonna jump in here. I killed adverbs today as well, and darlings—old darlings, like Lincoln drivin', social security paycheck cashers. My book isn't even the same book anymore, it's actually pretty good now. I feel guilty for making anyone read the original version.
