We're currently having a problem with so much email coming from the AW server, that the ISP has throttled email from our server. We're working to fix that, but what's causing the problem are the email notifications of Thread Subscriptions.

It would help hugely if people would set the email notifications to Daily or Weekly, rather than Instant.

UserCP
List Subscriptions (On the left under Subscribed Threads heading)
Select a thread in the list of threads you subscribe to
On the far right is a check box, under the heading Notification
Click the box, and please select
Below the box is a pop-up menu that says Move to folder . . .
Click the menu and select either Daily email notification or Weekly email notification.

* This only affects Thread Subscription Notifications
* If you are OK turning the email notification off entirely, at least for now, I'd really appreciate it.
* Please feel free to pass around a link to this post.

ETA: I expect that this will be temporary.

Thanks

I've been getting thread subscriptions without difficulty - just so you know. But I turned them all off until things settle down.

Good luck with the rest of it!

Oh er, I thought I had them turned off (I had, but only some, don't ask me how.)

Went back, and this time followed instructions to the letter and voila! :D

Sorry 'bout that. :e2smack:

Same thing happened to me! I really thought I'd turned them off! But no. Going back to try again.

Turned mine off now too (only had one, lol, but every little helps, I'm sure!). :)

Med: Two weekly subscription notices came through to me today with attachments (didn't open them)...The Count to One Million thread and Grandma Susie's HOF II...have you been hacked?

I have the emails if you want them - let me know where to forward.

No, we haven't been hacked.

I suspect that the data is too great to fit in the body of the email and is therefore appended as an attachment.

Feel free to forward them to me at medievalist AT mac.com and I'll take a look.
