Voted! I know what I'm hoping for to win, aha, but most of these are books I want to read anyway!

ELMontague

Now we've gone and voted a three way tie so far. We need a tie breaker, and maybe more.

Is it wrong that I have never read an Ursula LeGuin novel? Does that make me a bad feminist SF geek girl?

Go thou, dear Kitty, and read The Dispossessed. As soon as possible.

The Left Hand of Darkness is her acknowledged classic, but I've always preferred The Dispossessed. Which reminds me, I read it twice but haven't read it in years.

well... maybe I'm bad too, cuz all I've read of her is Earthsea. And I wasn't terribly impressed.

Bored might be more like it.

*cringes and hides from the rain of rotted vegetables*

I read the earthsea series when I was a kid, and I did enjoy it then. However, I don't think I'd enjoy it if I read it again now. But there are quite a few books I could say that about. I don't think I've ever read anything else by her.

Doh, we still need a tie breaker. There's almost a day left to get it in.

I only suggested and voted for Lavinia as I read it last year. As I said elsewhere, I have no chance of reading a new book in March as I have a reading pile that will take me into April as it is. And I'm especially not going to be able to read a 1000-page sequel to a novel I haven't read.

Lavinia and Among Others I know I can get through the local library without ILL (though I might have to place a hold for the latter). I already read Dead Witch Walking about nine months ago or so.

Le Guin is not one of my preferred authors; there's always a sort of cold, distant feeling to her work. But the cut-off classicist in me wants to see her take on the latter part of the Aeneid.

Lavinia has the lead in the home stretch. What will the next two hours show?

It's a tie again. And we have 19 voters. I think ELM should run all the polls in the future :)
