An Introduction post is always intimidating, especially when you see others who have such witty things to say about themselves and to others. It builds a level of anxiety, hoping you say the right things to elicit “Welcome’s” from other members, and not just one-hundred page views with no responses.
With that said, Hi! =) My name is Katie. I am twenty-four and living in Houston as an “economic refugee” from Florida. I’ve been here two years this weekend, and I’ve not looked back since! I write as a passion, but would love to do it for a living. I’ve been trying to get up the courage to quit my meaningless job and say, “To heck with it!” and do what I really love. I think that time may come sooner than I think.
Like many of you, I’ve been writing since I learned how to hold a pencil. Also like many of you, I’ve had my ins-and-outs with writing. Some months, I don’t put pen to paper except to sign for packages; other months, you can’t tear me away from my desk. I’ve had a lot of barren months lately, and I’m just plain sick of it. That’s why I’m here.
I am starting an Urban Fantasy series while taking a break from my other WIP, a Historical Fiction novel. My literary hero is Peter S. Beagle, though I have other favorites, such as Neil Gaiman, Jane Austen, Philippa Gregory, Charlaine Harris and Mary Higgins Clark.
Other random facts about me include:
1. Both of my parents are deaf.
2. My favorite color is purple.
3. My favorite accessory is my new B&N Nook Classic.
4. I am a coffee addict. It’s pretty serious.
5. My two dogs, Godric and Sookie, are my world!
6. I have pictures of my dream home library hanging in my office.
7. I once wanted to be a Geologist.
8. I have been head-over-heels in love with the same man for six years.
9. I am Italian, and have the temper to match.
10. I am a fan of the Twilight series. No jokes
I look forward to getting to know all of you, and hope to learn a lot from you. I’ve lurked for a few weeks now, and can already tell that you’re a great group of people. I hope to contribute something of value to this forum. Thanks for having me =)
