Just received an e-mail from the "New Yorker" regarding their new short story competition. You submit a short story (500 words or less) about a travel experience to the Halekunai Short Story Contest. The winner gets (wait for it :)) airfare for two to Hawaill, plus a five night stay at a resort in Honolulu.
Runner-up prize isn't too shabby either-the winner and ten runners-up will have their stories posted on the "New Yorker" promotion department's web site.
Link is here: www.newyorkeronthetown.com/Halekulani (http://www.newyorkeronthetown.com/Halekulani). The contest ends on December 13, 2010 (according to the e-mail I received) so get cracking! Good luck! :)
