The School Bus = I have to leave 15 minutes earlier in the mornings once school starts.

This is a major pain for me because I am sooooooooo not a morning person in the first place, and now I have to get up even earlier.

Dang!

Traffic goes to Hell in a handbasket. I've been late to work every day this week and it'll be another week before it gets back into a normal routine.

Yeah, but you gotta love the super sad faces at the bus stops in September. I flew by them 7 o'clock this morning with a rolled down window, puffing my Lucky Strike and doing my best mwa-ha-ha.
They tend to annoy me more at 4 o'clock when I'm trying to get home and I'm stuck behind a bus that makes six dramatic stops on one street. When it's little kids I get it, but damn you're fifteen years old and you don't know how to cross the street? Then you deserve to be run over. (I keed. I keed.)
Oh, and Labor Day is nice too.

For me it's school starting. I'm going into my second year of college, and I don't think I'll ever get used to those 8am classes.

8am? wow.
Yeah, it's amazing, every country i've been in the same - worse - parent bringing the kids to school instead of a compulsory bus system.
other than that i love sept. i like every month except January (and half of feb)

It's followed by winter. And shorter days are coming (and here, 'cause it gets dark by eight now instead of nine).

On the other hand, my daughter is thrilled that it's September because her birthday is this month. She'll be eight.

Oh, Vern....where will it end?

September makes me cry tears of joy. The nights are cool. The leaves will start to turn by the end of the month. The emergency room tends to quiet down a little once the summer partying ends. But the BEST part of all is that my kids are going back to school in just one week. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Here. Now.
The world cools, the leaves get all colourful in a last hurrah before winter, and the wee touch of frost makes me feel alive.
Makes the hot flashes tolerable, too.
And no more kids on the lawn.
September. It's all good.

^ nicely put :p

I like the cooler weather too. I can handle cold weather way better than hot because when it's cold I can keep adding layers. But when it's hot, I can be butt naked - and still sweating buckets. ((which is probably too much information, oh well)).

It's still boiling now, hopefully we get a touch of autumn soooooooooooooon.
:)

September means the kids are back in school, which is a good thing
And they're cranking on me to help them with their homework
And they're impossible to get out of bed in the morning
And they need 25 cupcakes this morning but forgot to tell me for the last week and a half
And one forgot his lunchbox and another forgot her field trip money
And all of them volunteered me for classroom monitor even though I work full time
And, I'm going to hide now. Tell me when summer is here again.

Let's break this down.
1.) If they are asking you for help with their homework, that means they're actually doing it. All good.
2.) Bullhorns, ice water, barking pitbulls, threats of electronic bans: You have many tools at your disposal. It's still all good, because eventually they're getting on that dang bus.
3.) Costco. Presto!
4.) Staple lunchsacks and checks to children's foreheads. It's a real time-saver.
5.) Go to your first turn as classroom monitor in a black suit. Continually give children the stink eye while slapping a ruler against your palm. Give one of your own children detention for smiling. They'll never ask you to "volunteer" again.

Six days until back-to-school! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

:D

I'm not liking THIS September much yet... 2 days in and I have a raging cold.

Thankfully we're just coming out of winter here in Australia, so it's not a summer cold. Those are the worst. 45 degrees Celsius plus for 10 days straight, coughing non-stop, trying to sleep in that weather with shitty air-con... yeah, no thanks. This year's February flu was enough for one lifetime. (45C is about 120 or so in American temperatures, I think. It's easily over 100 anyway!)

But the only back-to-school that really matters it the one that applies to my kids. Haven't you been paying attention? :)
