Has anyone found any Nevada-based agents that look reputable? I've tried to do my own searches but alas I am not very good at those sort of things (nothing I turned up actually showed me agents).
Thanks :)
Why do you want an agent in Nevada? With email, you can have one in NY, which is much closer to the heart of publishing.

Well I'd just like to see what's out here in Nevada. I have 10+ queries out now for agents on the east coast but I'd like to at least try for something a bit more local. :) Who knows, things are smaller out here, maybe it'd be a bit easier to land an agent.

Most legitimate agents can be found listed in various sources, and also on this site. I myself have never found a literary agent listed in Nevada (which is to gambling as New York City is to literary agencies). It may just be that agenting in Nevada may not be as lucrative as, say, casinos or legal prostitution (I know, I'm up in northeastern California, in Lassen, where somehow we still swear we belong to Nevada Territory. Sheesh! And no agents up here, either!).

I've lived here for 17, almost 18, years, I realize what we have here. I've seen several agents out here, but that was years ago before I actually had something to submit. Maybe they did up and move to New York. XD I'll keep on the look though.

There is zero point to seeking a local agent. Never has been, starting from the days when every agent seemed to live in NYC. There is less and less reason to care where they live (although NYC is still an excellent choice.) Nor do they care where you live. They aren't going to take you to lunch, have you come round the office, or be your pal. They are going to represent you and your work. Be a professional and look for the best agent for your work.

Exactly. The essential thing about an agent is that they have positive connections with publishers. It doesn't matter where they live.

I understand it doesn't matter, but I at least wanted to try.
Feel free to close this thread, mods.

Lil, you might want to try the Las Vegas Writers Conference (info here: http://hwg.mergentsquared.com/); the writers group that sponsors the con can probably give you better info.
