One of my old Sci-Fi stories got turned into an audio podcast at The Drabblecast (http://web.me.com/normsherman/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html). Must say I'm impressed by the production.

Check out my latest blog entry (http://secretagentbritishintelligence.blogspot.com/2010/04/higher-than-usual-podcast.html) for details and links!

Congrats! (A shame it's not Adjustments, however. :D)

Heh, who knows what the future may bring... but can you imagine listeners trying to make sense out of Adjustments (http://mywebc.vs120132.hl-users.com/mypage/adjust.htm)' broken narrative? Could be amusing, mind you, in a psychological torture kind of way... Thanks for taking a look!

That was hilarious. :D The sound effects and music were brilliant. The narrator reminded me of Paul Merton. His voice acting totally suited the story.

Did you have the "anger as a virus" theme in mind when you wrote the story?

You know me, bro, I always look at your stuff... even after 15 years of cruel treatment. :D

And as for Adjustments, they could get Kurt Russell to reprise his role as Sergeant Todd in the film Soldier. ;)

Thanks all for taking a look (and a listen).

Totally agree, everything made the mediocre story (being honest) seem much more.

Difficult to answer, the story's so old. :) I'd like to say yes. Something was certainly spreading like a virus, and that something also tied into tribal/territorial emotions as groups absorbed previous enemy groups and became larger in order to meet bigger external threats. I always wondered where it would end. Scotland vs. England at Hampden, maybe. :)

True dat, but you keep coming back for more!

And as for Adjustments, they could get Kurt Russell to reprise his role as Sergeant Todd in the film Soldier. ;)
Bet he'd make a good job of it, too!

Congrats! I love Drabblecast!
I confess I hadn't heard of it, until I got an invite email. Rich in content and professionally produced.

Hi Derek. It took me ages to find that podcast. It's number 161 in the archives for any other poor soul living in the past, like me.

For some reason, I got no sound from the podcast. Nothing. Silence. The (fantastic) artwork appeared, the progress bar moved, but no sound emerged. Would have been my first podcast, too.

Oh Well!

Hey euclid thanks for taking a look. :)

Wow, over a year ago, how time flies! Shame it didn't work for you! It's still working for me, i.e. the content is still available -- the moment I hit the play button music began, then the narrator intro. Could it be a problem with software components? Do music files and YouTube videos, for example, play OK for you? (The answer is probably "Yes!" but I had to ask anyway.)

Yeah there should be a direct link as Cao says... let me just try it... yup, this one. (http://web.me.com/normsherman/Site/Podcast/Entries/2010/4/29_Drabblecast_161-_Higher_than_Usual_by_Derek_Paterson.html) <--not found, see edit below.

Hmm, there's an option to download an MP3 file instead (it says) but when I click on the link, the window refreshes and the story starts playing again instead of offering a pop-up Save window or similar. Puzzling!

Edit: podcast was archived on the site so there's a new URL, which is here. (http://gardenstreet.org/drabblecastarchive/archive/151200_files/41b99a4bf632437f09bfa97a40ec11fc-130.php) The story starts at around 7 minutes into the mp3, after sponsor messages.
