So I'm just trying to gauge interest levels here for something potentially in the works -
We're all aware there are numerous contests around the YA blogosphere. A lot of them are for books, some for ARCs, a couple for t-shirts, bookmarks, and/or other swag. But how many of you would be interested in a contest where the prize is a phone call with a brilliant YA author with a major publishing house?

It would be risky. It might be too awkward. Maybe a 30 minute facebook chat would be more appropriate.

Phone conversations with strangers are generally expected to be awkward, and unless said YA author is a sparkling conversationalist in almost every circumstance... it'd made me uncomfortable, anyways.

I agree with the above posters. Talking on the phone is awkward for me, especially when it's with a stranger, and I believe it's the same for many people. However, a facebook/IM chat might indeed be more enticing.

Talking on the phone is awkward at the best of times, but there are other factors, such as time differences etc. and basic understanding, I mean, I'm from Ireland and I have a pretty strong accent, and I wouldn't be confident that a stranger would be able to understand me over the phone.

I can't talk to people i've known for years and like for 30min. (lol)

I've seen contents where the winner receives a critique from a popular author. Though I wonder if the losers of such contests would benefit from that more than the winner.
