How many book wait in your to be read pile? I have around 80-100 approx.
9, I think, and that's LOADS for me. ;)
(By the way, you'd get through your pile quicker if you STOPPED BUYING MORE BOOKS!!! :D )

Can't help it. I'm addicted and when I see a good sale I have to buy :)
Ooh, if I include the disc of free "classic" books that came with my E-reader, I'm up to about 90! :D

15 plus several One Story shorts. I don't think I'll ever be at a loss for something to read.

I have seven AW writers on my list. (Yes Adam, you're on it) so other writers can wait. I'm reading Ilfayne's Bane by our own Julia Knight right now--she's amazing.

About eleventy billion. Okay maybe not that many, but a pile almost as tall as I am.

I've got about 185 books on my To Read Pile at the moment. I will most likely be adding Julia's book to that list when I go to the Forbidden Planet next week.

Whoa! Is that a physical pile of books on the floor or on a shelf TBR, or is that list of books you plan to read? I don't think I could accommodate 400 physical books TBR. The books I've already read still don't have permanent shelf space.

too many. I used to have several lists of "The Greatest" 100 or 500 Novels of all time that I was crossferencing (for duplication) and compiling my list that I felt needed to be explored before I'm gone. So in that case I've got a bunch that I have never read that I want to read. The problem with crossing a lot of those off my list is that I'll discovery a new author that I like and I'll have to try to read all of their stuff.
So I currently have 7 within arm's reach that are on the "to be read" list. In storage boxes there's probably another dozen or two, which would include a few on the "top 100"
list.

Right now I have 3 piles, each coming up to just over my knees. I don't know how many that actually is. Then I have a 3 page wish list type of TBR that I plan on reading eventually. It's neverending.

The list I have right now is about 100, with many more that I have my eye on after I finish those. I never get to the bottom of the list though, because I'm forever being sidetracked by other books I find and must read immediately. Must. It's not a question.

I have one bookcase devoted just to books I haven't read yet. It's full to overflowing with books that are stacked 2 and 3 deep. I also have a few hundred of the free samples on my Kindle so that I can keep a running list of books TBR.
472385782196723891742187418947 million-ish.
It's depressing that even if I read 24-7, I still couldn't finish all the books in the world, or even in the English language. There are some brilliant stories I will never read. :( :( :(

Mine has probably grown by 80 to 100 per year for the last few decades, so it's literally in the thousands. My actual "want to read" list grows faster than that, but then I do manage to read some, so that lowers the net rate of growth. Thanks to thrift stores, yard sales, library book sales, new and used bookstores and the Internet, I've actually got many or most of the books I've ever wanted to read (that I know of so far). I have a blogpost about how and where I get (most of) my books.
I've got about a dozen unread books by my bed. These are the "high priority" ones, there for instant access. There's "Molly Fyde and the Land of Light," bought directly from the AW author, sitting there unread. Maybe that'll be next. A newly released book "Superfreakonomics" sat unread through all of November because I was doing NaNoWriMo and wanted to spend my reading time writing. If I knew how enjoyable a read it eventually was, I might have picked it up earlier and not have won NaNoWriMo.

I have a bookshelf in my home office that holds my 'to be read' stack. There are about 40 books there.
I have a filing cabinet with library books stacked on it. I have 12 of those.
I have to keep the two stacks separate or, Borg-like, the library books will be overwhelmed and assimilated.

I have three in an actual, physical TBR pile. My wish list of books, like everyone else, numbers into the hundreds. :D
According to Goodreads, I have 58, although I know that some in my list I haven't actually bought yet. At least 30 of those are actually on my bookshelf waiting. And all summer to read them, too. :)

Right now on Goodreads the To Read list is 57. I try to keep it to books I already own or ones I very definitely intend to buy or to borrow from the library. Because if I added every one I chanced upon on the Internet or whatever and thought "that looks cool", I'd be at more like 1000!

Heh, me too. My Goodreads to-read list has 41 books, but there are others I want to read and a few I already own that I haven't put on there. The number would be too depressing for me otherwise.

Oh gosh, way too many. Probably over 100 that I own and even more on my wish-list. I am addicted to buying books. If I see one that looks interesting, I can't help myself. Plus there's all the books that people get me for Christmas and birthdays... They know what I like.

I recently got some money from the government, so I've been shopping a lot.
In my to-read pile (physical piles) there's about 30. 5 or 6 on my night stand, about a dozen that are half-read but probably won't be finished this year, and the rest are brand new books from the last couple of weeks. I also have MANY DVDs I haven't watched which I bought in the last couple of weeks. I'm running out of space in my room!
On my computer, I have 2 e-books that I haven't read yet.
Man, I thought I was bad with 30 not read yet. Some of you have hundreds!

OMG. Is this all the books you want to read or the books you have in your house that you have immediate access to? Cuz if we're talking what do I want to read someday, let's just say I quit counting or making lists.
I have about 10 assorted books I haven't read which I own. One library book. One ebook I paid cash money fo'. About 50 pdf freebies from Gutenburge (my best friend in the world....if only I had an ereader - it's hard to read on the computer.)

Physically in stacks scattered around the house: about 45 or 50. On my 'already read this calendar year' list I'm approaching triple digits. And that doesn't count a dozen or so I started and didn't finish. And Feb, Mar, and half of April don't count. I don't get a lot of reading done during tax season. On my 'to be purchased when I see them' list, about 150.

I have 20 books on my computer/lying around the house that I'm either reading or am going to read. I can only think of a couple that I want to buy - but that number will increase exponentially the second I start looking for recommendations. I've read over 100 books this year, not counting rereads...thank goodness for libraries.

I'm reading two books, and three are waiting on my bedside table. We own something like 2000 books, and I haven't read most of them. So that's my waiting list. :)
17 at the mo, I believe. At the rate I'm acquiring them compared to the rate I'm reading them, I may never reach the end. ;)

I don't really have a "pile" anymore since I got the iTouch.

Hundreds. Many hundreds. Everywhere in the house. It was an accomplishment at B&N yesterday to look again at two bargain books I'd had my eye on and decide NOT to buy them. (Let's not mention the ones in the mail from Dover Publications . . . nor what I am likely to load up my Kindle with, when it shows up at the doorstep.)

I dunno. There's a stack near the bed, and another in the closet and there's several in the bookshelf.
I don't have enough space for more books right now (always room for one more!) so I tend to pick up a lot from the library. When I can, I splurge on books. :)
