I've checked wikipedia, imdb, and various other 1950s-oriented sites, and nada. I'm trying to figure out which night of the week Lucy originally aired.

Does anyone have any TV trivia books, or remember personally when they used to watch Lucy years ago? I'm more of a 70s gal, and can remember when my family used to sit around and watch The Love Boat on Saturday nights.

Alternately, I'm trying to figure out what would be a good show to have on for a Thursday night in January 1952. Any ideas? (Some good ones here, but no clues on which night of the week they aired.... http://www.fiftiesweb.com/tv-ratings.htm)

I can't answer your question but have to say, I loved Lucy!

Is there an archive you can get to? They may have local newspapers that published dates/times shows were on. Also, if you know the date of the first transmission then you could also check national papers for reviews which might give you a clue or three!

I've no idea what day they were broadcast here in the UK - I did not love Lucy - she irritated me!

It almost seems I Love Lucy was on Tuesday nights - but that's a distant memory. I can't really remember much about the line-ups, but I think Dragnet might have been a Thursday show. There were also movies shown - almost every night of the week. Puma

there is a web site ALL 60's and 70's shows, and it lists what night they first premiered on. I will find it and post it here in a few.

I Love Lucy premiered on a Monday night. 10/15/1951

the show ran for 9 seasons.

For the purposes of accuracy, I'd say that it ran on Mondays nights, which it did for the first few years at least. I'm not sure about later years.

Having (literally) nothing else better to do, I whipped out my trusty copy of The Complete Directory of Prime Time Network TV Shows, starting from 1946. Here's what we have for I Love Lucy.
Oct. '51 to June '57 CBS Monday Night 9-9:30
April to Oct '55 CBS Sunday Night 6-6:30
Oct '55 to April '56 CBS Saturday Night 6:30-7
Sept. 57 to May 58 CBS Wednesday Night 7:30-8
July to Sept. 58 CBS Monday Night 9-9:30
Oct to May 58 CBS Thursday 7:30-8
July to Sept 59 CBS Friday Night 8:30-9
Sept 61 CBS Sunday 6:30-7
(Looks like, at some point or another, it was scheduled every night of the week. Just like now.)

Since I've still got the book out, here's your Thursday in 1952:

ABC 7:30 8:00 THE LONE RANGER
CBS: 8:00-8:30 BURNS & ALLEN; 8:30-9 AMOS & ANDY 10-10:30 RACKET SQUAD; 10:30 - 11:00 I'VE GOT A SECRET
NBC: 8:00-8:30 YOU BET YOUR LIFE (Groucho Marx!); 9-9:30 DRAGNET

(The good old days? Maybe. But they didn't have Tivo).

Hey! I was right on Dragnet. My parents enjoyed Burns and Allen - I guess because of the vaudeville aspect. Puma

Except Tuesday.
But you were right about Dragnet.
And you didn't even have a reference book.
