Perhaps it would be nice to mention which were the most memorable entries in the contest.

Which entries do you still think about?

For me, no particular order, and not necessarily stories I voted for...

Rhush: Man with dead wife
DJP: Letter to dad
William: Last week's birthday poem and first week's man being chased down
Sarah: Dude
BlueTexas: Breast cancer story
Truman: Coming-of-age story

i particularly liked zach's "eunuch's song". it's really a shame how it ended with him, because i truly believe he has it, and it would have been nice to see him win something like this while he's still young and parlay it into a big step forward.

I agree that he has "it." I'm still bummed about the bad timing. I wanted to see more from him.

I agree. That one really got me, as did his 7th Grade submission. Kira's pieces always hung in my mind afterward, as well. I quite liked "The Moen Chamber." Can't go back and reread them now, tho.

Great idea! Also not in any particular order (some are from the same week):

BlueTexas - Felicia (Seventh Grade)
Truman - Eunuch
Rhymegirl - Evelyn (Misunderstandings)
DJP - Mike and the hammer (not to be confused with Mike Hammer)
Haskins - Philosophy of the Flesh
Joanne - Silly Man
Pepperlandgirl - Viva Las Vegas
Rhush - Seventh Grade

Of mine, I'm happiest with the seventh grade piece, because I was able to articulate something in a way very close to how I experienced it.

But there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Dude ;)

I know we aren't waiting anymore, but here's my list. Of course, no particular order.

Rhymegirl - Deadline story
Firehorse - Dude, the first time around
BlueTexas - Felicia
JdKiggins - Fading (the pregnancy story)
Truman - I loved the goat!
Haskins - little Will in grade 7
Rhush - the lingo in the grade 7 story.

For me, I liked my graveyard poem, it was fun to write.:)

Oh, I think this is a lovely idea to tell which stories (poems) we liked best from all the writers. I will post my list this afternoon. After all, we all worked hard on our writing.

These are just the few that really stuck with me.

William: And Death Shall Have No Dominion (philosophy of the flesh was wonderful, too.)

Pepperlandgirl: Copper and Cherries. This piece still has me thinking "When will that book come out?!?!?"

Becky(Rhush): Black Wedding. So tragic, so sad yet somehow sweet. (although maxipad face had me laughing hysterically)

Joanne(jdkiggins): Without Hope There Is No Life. It still can make me cry.

The three I remember most:

DJP - Poetic Justice
William - Philosophy of the Flesh
TrumanCoyote - In the Shower that Mom Kept Spotless

(btw, just remember, my memory's not what it used to be)
