I'm having trouble getting my NaNo picture thingy into my signature.
I dragged the icon onto my desktop from the NaNo website, then I tried putting it into my sig line. But when I do a preview, it shows a link with the words describing what it is but no picture.
How do I make it appear just like everyone else's?
Thanks!
Hey Kath.
I just tried it. I went to a siggy that already had one and did a right click 'copy image location' and went to the change siggy thing and clicked on the 'insert image' icon...pasted what I copied...and it appeared.
see. There it is. You can copy the one I have in mine. (copy image location)

Is everyone participating in NaNo expected to show the icon?

Not obligatory at all, it's just a show of solidarity and shared mental trauma.
I got mine from NaNoWriMo's Web Badges (http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/webbadges) page.
I right-clicked on the badge/image I wanted and selected Save Image As to store the .png file on my PC.
I then uploaded the saved .png file to PhotoBucket
And then I copy/pasted the URL from PhotoBucket into my sigline:

Um, no right click for me. I use a Mac powerbook with a touch pad.

Rhyme Girl, I believe that would be a Control Key and Click to accomplish a "right click" on a Mac.
BTW? Considering the load that the Nano servers are under every year, I suspect that shoving your badge over to photobucket or flickr or some such, and linking from there, would be a benefit to all the other Nano-ers.

Um, no right click for me. I use a Mac powerbook with a touch pad.
The Web Badges page says:
Most web browsers have a Save Image or Save Picture feature: PC users can right-click on the image to bring up a menu, and Mac users can just hold down the mouse button over the image.
Plan Z, if nothing works, just point out a badge you like and I'll put it into your sigline.

Okay! I'm all set.
I tried Derek's method of putting the image in Photobucket and then copying and pasting it into my signature area in the User CP.
So thank you!

Following up, from checking the WebBadge page. They do want you to
download your own.
(Or, just use the one from somebody else's flickr/photobucket site.)

There isn't any need to save it online as well as on your own computer, as the AW forum software lets you upload images from your machine. Go to Edit Signature, select Upload Image From Your Computer and when it has appeared, click the link next to the image that says Insert Signature Picture. You can preview your sig to make sure it has appeared correctly.
