Was it your first book written? Do you recall the time difference between that book and others that weren't accepted? I know...lots of questions, but they came to me as I read the other thread currently going on. :)

Hmm.

The one that's being published - five months to write, a month of revisions with my agent before it sold. The one before that, which landed my agent, took four months.

And all the ones before ... well, this one was the 13th novel I'd completed. My completion times varied widely, from three weeks to two years.

ymmv. :D

My first book written will probably never see the light of day again, and it took many, many years to write and revise, and finally put away.

The novel that got me an agent and a book deal took about three months to write (my seventh novel written). Its contracted sequel took about two and a half months.

BTW, sonya, I love your cover!!!!

thank you so much!! :D

my contracted sequel is currently kicking my a** - three months and counting, and it's like trying to take my teeth out with a spoon, man. only 20K words left to go before revisions... ack.

My first novel took about a year to write, and about six months to find a publisher. The sequel I really worked full-time on so it took about three months.
