Last year, from October 1, 2008 to October 1, 2009, I wrote 80,000 words. I know, it's not a lot. But it's hard to write when you're working and depressed half the time.

Jeez tell me about it. I think you wrote more than me.

Probably a combined 30k on two separate failed novel attempts (gave up on the second temporarily, back working on the first...).

Also who knows with all the short and flash stuff. With lenience I'd say another 30k.

Could be more. Dunno.

And up until a few weeks ago I was working as a reporter. So, probably an assload more if you count articles.

164,819. That's if you only count works written for my books. If you count words written for my day job, too, (I'm a tech writer), it's probably closer to 400,000.

I feel you :\ Hang in there!

I've probably written, since January, about the same. It's hard to tell since I'm working on so many projects.

Oh shutupayouface.

I've probably written around 100,000 - 120,000 in the last year.

65,000 and change. I write slow but steady. On a good day I'm lucky to wring out 500 words

I write about three hours a day some times a bit more at weekends I try and keep a note of how I do each day so I can look back at my more productive days. My best this month has been 5,000ish in one day yesterday was my worst only managed 136 words!! Disgusting!

I'm a slow writer....a few weeks ago I prided myself in 5 K within 24 hours. Never have I ever come anywhere close to that before. In the past year? No clue, maybe 80 K....

Not that a larger word count is any indication whether the writing is actually good writing or not, I've been doing more editing and rewriting this year so only about 120K for me.

Think my best in one year would be around +250K in 2 separate manuscripts.

Well I'm counting the words I wrote from my former lives also. And in the womb.

I'm not sure how much I've written, but I know I've cut about 150K from the WIP...

Yeah. How would I know that? I completed several short stories, some flash, and some tweet fiction. Worked on two novels, almost completed one, but I don't remember how many words I had prior to October 1, 2008.

I'd say well under 50,000, probably closer to 25,000 and that might even be on the high side.

So the other day I was bored, and did a spreadsheet of the wordcounts for ALL my documents over the past year (excluding homework). I'm really glad this thread came up, because now I can mention it without seeming (too) sad!

I wrote 213,471 words. These are spread over hundreds of documents, though - no complete novels. *Shame*

Hold on a minute... Four novels, plus half a novel plus a third of a novel... About 400,000 words since October.

Since last October? Um...somewhere about 250-280,000 words, I think. Two full novels, part of another, a novella, two shorts, a few flash pieces, some new scenes for old stuff....

Fantasy: Roughly 450,000.

Other: Not even bothering to count. I do technical writing for my day job, so... yeah.
