The e-novella is coming out Nov. 6. It's erotica/sword-and-sorcery.

My publisher sends previews to a few reviewers. I've set up a Twitter account to yammer on about the story and related things, and I have a LiveJournal to do the same in longer format. Every friend I have who has pocket money has been alerted to the existence of the book, and one of them is getting very inventive on passing on the news -- knitting patterns, would you believe? I'm debating whether V. Greene needs a Facebook Fanpage thingy.

And yet this looks dismally inadequate. If this were a print book, I'd pull together all of my nerve and approach local bookstores, but I doubt they're likely to take an interest in something they can't mark with a price gun and stick on the shelf. Likewise, most of the inventive promotions I can come up with require a handful of pages bound together in a stiffish cover. How do you promote your ebooks?

Hi V.Greene,

With a published e-book I've sent it myself to some reviewers. I've also participated in blog interviews and I'm on chats generally at least once a week (but realistically more like two or three times a week). I also have a website and a sparkling signature. :D

You can also advertise locally with bookmarks, flyers, or you could pay to advertise in the newspaper/magazine.

Hope this helps,
Natasha

Because your book is only available online, there's no point in contacting local bookstores. They don't promote something they don't sell. You want a strong presence online so in addition to the social networking you've mentioned, you can incorporate the following:
-- A Web site and a blog (either, or, or both) where you blog about the writing process, etc., and share excerpts
-- A virtual book tour with blogs interested in your genre
-- A book trailer/video
-- Podcasts -- on your site and on those of others
-- Offer your book as a contest prize to blogs or site reaching your target audience
-- List it on reader sites like Goodread, etc.

Remember to contact your local media so they can do a "local author has new book" story.

Good luck!
