They must be the crappest pirates EVER. No weapons? How were they going to take over a French warship, or any ship for that matter, with no weapons?

They threw the weapons (and everything else) overboard in an attempt to escape. It says earlier in the article that they were firing kalashnikovs.

I laughed so hard when I saw this story.
