I am a little nervous and disapointed. I just thought I found a publisher, PA, and as soon as I start looking around and asking friends, well they all tell me that they know people who have made a lousy experiencce with them. But well, how to find a better one? Since one of my friends gave me this site as a link I thought that maybe any of you might care to recommend a good publisher. Since I cannot afford to take a vanity publisher, I have to find one who doesn't charge fees. Could you please help?

PA is definately not the way to go. I think the best thing you can do is go to a bookshop and look at who publishes similar books to yours, and aim for them. Good luck.:Sun:

These resources have information that can help you avoid pitfalls like PA:
Preditors and Editors:

Writer Beware:

And the Bewares and Background Checks board on this forum:

As trapped said: Go to a bookstore. Look for books similar to yours. Publishers that can get books into bookstores are good publishers (though some are better than others.)

None of them will charge you anything. Rather, they'll pay you. They get their money by selling books to the public.

Good luck!!

Just be very grateful you discovered PA is bad before and not after you signed like some of us. What genre is your book? What length? That would be good info to know when searching for an agent or publisher.
