I am going to write an article about a friend of mine who has cystic fibrosis. He had to have a double lung transplant in December of 2008 and since then, has had 11 sugeries! He is now doing great and has been hiking and swimming...things that he has never before been able to do. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to which specific magazine I should pitch this article to? I could see it fitting with many different magazines but this article is very important and personal to me and I would like to find a magazine with the best fit. Thank you so much for your help!!!

Decide what your goal of the article is and then target that audience. Are you hoping to inspire others? Look for magazines for people with similar illnesses. Does the hospital he went to have a magazine? They often publish upbeat stories about patients. Woman's magazines also use inspirational stories. Is your friend athletic? Would your story fit in a fitness/hiking/swimming type of magazine?
Brainstorm to figure out what you're hoping to convey with your article, and then seek out that audience.
Good luck with it.
