View Full Version : And I Thought My Hometown Was Boring

Yeah--my husband and I know this guy. He used to work at a restaurant here in town at the same time my husband did. As a matter of fact, his ex almost became our sister-in-law.

Buzz around town is that he was huffing and the taser ignited a spark from the chemicals still lingering in the air around him.

Who'd have thought THIS was possible. Not the way I envisioned Lancaster making the national news...

He does look a little.. um.. stunned.

His nickname years ago (before either huffing or being tased) was Psycho Dan. *sigh* It's a pretty sad state of affairs, but I have to admit to a stunned moment of snickering at first. I mean--this is William Tecumseh Sherman's hometown, there's probably only one homeless person in the whole darn town and what are the odds that I know him?

Apparently 100%.

Suspect, holding aerosol can: "Go ahead, copper. Taze me, and we'll both go up in flames!"

Quick, somebody ban flammable aerosol containers before they start being used as defensive weapons!

"Step away from the paint can, buddy, and nobody will get hurt!"

*kicks Don in the teeth*

Cool it, Zorro--this is my thread.

I hate to admit it, but I was laughing so hard I could hardly read the story to my wife. How old were you when you learned not to mix sparks and flammables?

From the comments on the article:
Build a man a fire and he will be warm for a day, but set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Quite honestly, the story is even funnier if you knew the GUY and the police department around here.

This should appeal to you Don--law enforcement in this county is somewhat akin to Barney Fife. They're usually smoking alongside car wrecks while the gas seeps out all over the road.

I shouldn't be laughing at this. I should have my heart bleeding all over the place. But...I can't help it. Everytime I try to feel bad for Psycho Dan, my sense of humor just fires up again. *snerk* I don't mean to fan the flames *snicker* but sometimes these kinds of stories just spark laughter.

*laughs until she cries*

*notices tazer in Celina's hand, backs quietly out of thread*

Nope. No tazers for me, thanks. I'll leave that to the professionals in this town.

...like, you know, the little old ladies in the Wal Mart parking lot.

Yeah, keep it up, lil' lady. This whole thread's gonna go up in a puff of smoke.

My home town made the news not long ago when a guy robbed a bank armed with a pitchfork. Got away with it too, IIRC.

I know that's a little off topic, but <shrug> I wanted to make hay while the sun shines.

Why did you call him Psycho Dan? ;)

This reminds of me of one of Glasgow's resident weirdos. He took too much acid one night and never came down, and he sits on Buchanan Street with a guitar in a multi-coloured leopard-print coat "busking". There's always a good three feet of space around him...

I didn't know they made pitchforks that big. Unless, of course, it's a small branch.

Bet when they find that pitchfork, the serial number will have been ground off. :)

As I recollect, he got the nickname Psycho Dan because he told people he was psycho--so it was self-inflicted. He was never a very nice person. He made the mistake once of thinking that because he worked with my husband, he could come cause trouble in my bar when I was working.

Bad idea. Real bad.

As of the latest report, he's doing just fine. He wasn't hospitalized for his very minor burns as a result of this incident, but has been admitted for observation at the regional mental health hospital.

Yes, well, huffing from aerosol paint cans probably doesn't help that too much. Again--self-inflicted.
